How to Focus Like A LASER

I am sure that you have experienced times where it has been challenging to focus on necessary tasks. Lists were made and checked twice. Then, you reverted to wasting time on social media, daydreaming, or engaging in mindless activities. Suddenly, your back is against the wall because of a deadline due or an important obligation compromised.

Merriam Webster Dictionary Online defines focus as: a center of activity, attraction or attention; a point of concentration; directed attention; a state or condition permitting clear perception or understanding; a point of convergence.

So, what keeps you from focusing? Consider all of the distractions you have going on around you. The quantum unified field is all about energy and information. What you put your attention to expands. I view this as the confluence of external/internal circumstances. External circumstances are influences that come from outside us (network news, social media, weather, demands of others, etc.). Internal circumstances are what is happening in our mind (feelings, thoughts, beliefs, past experiences, memories, etc.). As you put attention to your circumstances, you find your direction hijacked. As Otis Redding sang “sitting on the dock of the bay...wasting time.”

Zig Ziglar says “Lack of direction, not lack of time is the problem. We all have twenty four hours.” Steve Jobs said “Focusing is about saying NO.”

What follows is a listing of some practices you can utilize to increase your focus.

Avoid and manage distractions.

Turn off all electronic devices.

Limit your time on social media.

Have a place where you can go to concentrate and not be disturbed.

Make a to do list. Do the most challenging item on the list first.

Focus on similar tasks.

Create a playlist of your favorite music that serves as an “anchor” to keep you in the “zone.”

Get enough good rest.

Fuel your body properly.

Caffeine in small doses.

Find your “peak hours” when you are most energized.

Work with the end in mind.

Paulo Coelho said it best as he quotes “Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.”

As you increase your focus, you create more balance, opportunity, harmony and success in your life.

As you increase your focus, you allow yourself to embrace a power statement by Mahatma Gandhi…”There is a force in the universe that flows through me that produces miraculous results.”

Focus like a laser.

Be open to the possibility and opportunity that comes with being focused.

Your world will turn.
